From the Driver's Seat:

Regan Smith: “Heading into the ROVAL this weekend, I know that there are several guys not looking forward to it, but I would happen to be one of them that is excited for it.  We don’t have any playoff points or anything like that to worry about, so it’s just a matter of going out there to get the best finish we can, while running as hard as we can.  Road racing to me has been one of my favorite things to do over the years.  It doesn’t matter if it’s a ROVAL, a true road course, or a street course.  I just enjoy road course racing and the challenges it presents of going left and right, trying to make the race car as good as you can in every corner, while compromising in other corners in order to get the best lap times possible.  I’m pumped up heading into this weekend.  Last week was a struggle at Richmond.  We just didn’t start the weekend off well and struggled from that point on, so I’m looking forward to going out and getting a little redemption after what we’d call a sub-par performance and having some fun on Sunday.

From the Pit Box:

Jon Leonard: “I think the ROVAL race weekend is going to be all about survival and durability.  With it being the last race of the first round in the Playoffs, drivers are going to lay it all on the line in order to advance to the next round. There will be plenty of cars that have wrecked or broken parts, so it’s going to be important to finish the race and then worry about finishing first with about 20 to go.  There are a lot of unknowns heading into this weekend.  Even though we tested on the course, we all haven’t raced together on it yet, so figuring out how much space is really available, and where you are able to make passes, are still things that are up in the air.  I think we learned a lot from the test from a set-up standpoint. We took a lot of what we learned at the ROVAL test with us to Watkins Glen and performed well there.  We're taking those same set-ups and theories with us to the racetrack this weekend. Obviously, we tested with Kasey (Kahne) and now we have Regan (Smith) in the Procore Chevy this weekend, but Regan enjoys road course racing and has had success in the past. There will be a little bit of a learning curve from the driver’s seat I’m sure, but Regan has made a point to study data and spent time in the simulator in anticipation of this weekend. We'll do our best, and hopefully have a shot at the end.
